The AW14 collection ‘Una Vida Bien Vivida’ (A life well lived) is inspired by the story of Carmen by Bizet, set in colourful Seville, Spain. It explores the heat and intensity between two young lovers.

It is a fearless collection that represents the confident and exotic nature of Carmen herself. Garvida takes inspiration from traditional Spanish costumes and patterns and translates it into contemporary cuts with flowing frills; reminiscent of the vibrant traditional scarves and hand printed tiles from the nineteenth century.

For this collection, designer Jasper Garvida has combined texture and prints, a bold and fresh choice from his usual monochrome palette. The intense red and mediterranean blue colours reflect the inner passion and desire from Bizet’s Carmen, and the collection has an understated sexual tone and vulnerable beauty, which is evident through the variety of rich tones which at the same time reflect a class of sophistication.
